The River garry & Loch Oich

 

 

The Garry has the well earned reputation of being one of the best early salmon rivers in Scotland and for the 3rd Year running has produced the first spring fish of the season.

The fish was caught at the head of the estuary pool. Due to the very cold weather the loch could not be fished and the boat was iced in almost completly. Kelts which were in very good condition were caught every day.

When you fish the Garry and Loch Oich you will enjoy the sole fishing rights on one of the most beautiful rivers in the country. The river is let by the day or the week. It is three and a half miles long and has 24 named pools. There is a maximum of 6 rods per day. It is located 40 miles from Inverness and 25 miles from Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland.
 

A 20 foot fishing cabin is also situated at the estuary and can easily accommodate 6 people. It is fully fitted with mains electricity and water. It has cooking facilities, bar-b-que, table and chairs and of course rod racks.
 

There is a 16 foot boat suitable for 5 adults which is moored at the mouth of the river for loch fishing. It comes complete with an outboard.

With excellent footpaths and easy parking your vehicle is only ever a short walk away. Several parties have been returning to the river for over 20 years.
  At various points arround the river you will be able to make use of the private parking for yourself and your party.
 

 

The fishing cabin is the perfect base from which to enjoy and explore the river. It also enjoys the benefits of private parking.

The River Garry is spectacular and unique. From its tumbling falls to gentle glides it offers something for everyone. The pools are ideal for fly fishing but spinning is permitted.

 

 

When is the best time to fish? The early months, especially April and May, are firm favourites. Many tenants have been returning for years. In the last 10 years or so the back end of the season has shown increasing numbers of grilse and offers outstanding value for money. As part of a fishery management programme we operate a catch and release policy on the river. Fish over 6 lbs must be returned but fish under this weight may be kept. However, for each fish returned you will receive a farmed salmon. The Garry is renowned for its early salmon and trout.
